Most people just want to buy games. I don't blame them. What if you want to play it again later? Why not just buy it and you can play it whenever you want?
Cuz you're not made of money of course. You have to rent video games if you also want to eat. Nobody can afford to buy every effing game that comes out, but if you rent them first, you can definitely afford to buy the good ones. For each game you rent and decide not to buy because, after a couple of hours, it really was kind of boring, you've just saved yourself $50. Not only that, but when you really know which games are good, the ones you do buy are going to be the very best ones out there.
It just makes sense to do your game rentals online, and there are a few places you can go to do that and I've tried them all. Gamefly was hands down the best.
Check out this hilarious commercial to see what I'm talking about.
When you do your game rentals online, you're guaranteed to get what you want. You're never going to miss out, and if you like it, just keep it! Pretty much all the major online rental companies will let you keep rented games if you're that into them. Obviously you'll have to pay for them but you're saving money in the end. It's pretty much a no-brainer.
If a game fills you with terror and haunts your dreams, you should buy it. If a game gives you time to think about your life and relationships and God, you should return it, and get a better one. Obviously only very bored people do that.
So when to you rent video games? Where do you go to rent video games? You've got some choices. You could go to blockbuster (lol!) but seriously, you've got to choose between Gamerang and Gamefly if you're going to get a decent selection at a sane price. Late fees? Bull$hit. That was always just a scam to keep the lower classes down. Everybody knows you play a game until you beat it, unless its a pile of crap, and then you don't really need to hang on to it for three days anyway, just send it back and rent something better.
When you rent video games, there are a few things you should keep in mind:
- Make sure they've got a decent selection. Won't you feel like a moron if you spend money and sign up and end up playing through Pirates of the Caribbean anyway.
- Find someone with a credit card. If you don't have one, get your parents to use theirs, you can give them the money. This is the best investment you'll ever make.
- Prepare to frag.
Personally I like gamefly the best. Their selection can't be beat and it is hands down the best deal for the money. I even put their banner up on every page. You have to at least give them a try. They're doing a free trial right now and you can sign up for nothing.
